Hi, I have what i imagine is a cool concept, and a good enough skill set with art and music to create nearly everything necessary for a "visual novel" type game in a similar style as the game "critters for sale".
I'm ready and trying to create it, but I'm having issues with the coding and game making aspects.
I originally went straight to Godot engine to try and create it, being that its a free engine, but im not sure if this is the software for me, I'm brand new to code generally and so far, not very good at it lol, it seems i need to learn so much from scratch.
I even discovered an ai that would supposedly help me code called claude ai. its been beneficial and sort of helped through the process of learning everything from scratch but i still have so much more to do.
Is there any simple game engines that are less code reliant that anyone can recommend to make a visual novel type game?

what you're looking for is the express goal and purpose of renpy. Its a python based engine that's very easy to use and specifically for visual novels. I use godot as well. Don't be afraid to DM if u need some help.
